Why film layers block after winding — and when Anti-Block helps
When Anti-Block helps, how winding and thickness relate to the problem, and the difference from Slip.
Film blocking after winding disrupts the next step: opening the roll takes time, tearing or waste can occur, and packing slows down. The problem appears after production, so its cost shows up in delivery and operations rather than at the melt stage.
Blocking can come from several causes together: film surface behavior, heat during winding, film thickness, and winding pressure. Thin layers wound while still warm are more prone, and every application has its own conditions.
An Anti-Block masterbatch reduces adhesion between film layers and makes them easier to separate and open. But selection depends on the application, film thickness, and winding method — not on the product name alone.
It is important to distinguish Anti-Block from Slip: Anti-block reduces layer-to-layer adhesion, while Slip reduces the friction coefficient and improves surface slip. Some applications need one or both depending on the product and the visible problem.
Before committing to a grade, test a sample under the same winding and storage conditions, because the result differs by line and end use.
